Cherry

Three juicy red paper cherries with a branch of pink cherry blossoms, mounted in a shadow box. I am always amazed at the magical transformation that takes place from flowers to fruit. These red cherries, one having been cut open to reveal the seed inside, were the result of the flowers being pollinated in the spring. I decided to include both the flowers and the fruit in the box to highlight that magic. I painted the "cut" side of the cherry on watercolour paper and placed the pit inside. This is a part of my fruit series. 

The painted wooden box is 6 x 9 inches and 1 1/2 inches deep. It is black inside and out. There is hanging hardware on the back and it is signed. 

Each of my paper flowers is handmade with care and attention to detail. This sculpture is made from crepe paper, watercolour paper, wire, paint and glue. Using high quality materials and careful techniques ensures that my flowers will last a long time. I also include care tips with each purchase.
