Workshops

I love to give workshops to teach others the joy of making flowers from paper! I usually post them on the Home page of my website as well as on my social media.

Over the years I've taught classes to people of all ages, both virtually and in person. I try to pair classes with exhibits that I'm participating in.

I've taught at:

The Ottawa School of Art (Orleans), Parrott Gallery (Belleville), The Japanese Paper Place (Toronto), The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (Virtual), Vodkow (Almonte), Mississippi Valley Textile Museum (Virtual), Mill of Kintail (Almonte), Almonte Public Library (Almonte), Denver Botanic Gardens (virtual).

I can also offer private classes to your group! My private class fees are as follows:

$250 for up to 7 people, plus $40 per person after that. You provide the venue. Travel of 1 hour or more is extra. The classes run from 2-3 hours. Here is a list of courses to choose from:

Paper Wild Rose: My most popular workshop. It is 2 hours long and is an introduction to working with crepe paper to make a rose and leaf.

Paper Anemone: A simple but very rewarding project. You will make three anemones from crepe paper along with their leaves. 2 hours

Paper Peony: a slightly more complicated design with spectacular results! This one requires a lot of cutting. We also dye some crepe paper for the outer petals. 3 hours.

Paper Trillium: A fun and simple crepe paper project that results in a sweet native woodland flower(that you're not supposed to pick!). This workshop also introduces you to working with cardstock to make leaves. 2.5 hours

Paper Bearded Iris or Blue Flag Iris: Using a variety of techniques to shape and form crepe paper, this class will result in a spectacular finished flower! You can choose from a variety of colours for your iris from purple to blue to yellow or white. 3 hours.

Paper Black-eyed Susan: This fun and cheerful native wildflower is a great course for anyone who wants to learn more about making flowers out of paper. It is suitable for beginners as well. It is 2.5 hours and participants make at least two flowers with leaves. The technique for making this flower can be easily adapted to making many other ray flowers such as daisies and cosmos.

Paper cosmos: In this course we make three cosmos flowers from heavy crepe paper.

Paper Oak leaves and acorns: This course is an introduction to creating leaves from recycled packaging paper. We make several oak leaves and a few acorns, too. The results are really nice and the technique can be applied to any type of leaf. This course is 2 hours long

Paper Amaryllis: Perfect for Christmas! The amaryllis are made using laminated crepe paper and wire. It is a bit more challenging and I would recommend it for more advanced crafters. The finished flowers are large and showy- perfect for display. The course takes about 3 hours.

Paper Morning Glory:Using crepe paper to create these lovely trumpet-like flowers and card stock to create their leaves. You will make 2 vines with flowers, buds, and leaves.
