A huge, bright red paper Oriental Poppy in a wooden shadow box frame with a bud and a leaf. The flower is over 6" across! The bud is cracking open to reveal some bright red petals inside. The bud and leaf are hairy- an effect I achieved with wool. I made the petals from Japanese paper that I dyed with fabric dye and painted over with mod podge for a glossy finish.
The box is wooden, 16 x 16 inches, and includes hanging hardware (both a claw and D rings) on the back for hanging. It is painted white inside and has a clear varnish on the outside. This piece is signed.
